The Port Harcourt Base Facebook Influencer Scandal – Full Story By Roy Clintson

“THE TRUE STORY YOU WERE NOT TOLD ABOUT THE TRENDING PORT HARCOURT FACEBOOK INFLUENCER SCANDAL”

According to Roy Clintson, in his word;

I’ll start by saying “Maturity is accepting your faults, and taking responsibility of the results of your actions”

By the way, this is a long read…

I woke up to a design that stated that I, Roy Clintson, signed a surety for the Port Harcourt Facebook influencer that’s involved in the 55k scandal, and now the guy has ran away.

You see, life is beyond what is being displayed to us on the digital screens. I’m not too young, neither am I that old, but I am old enough to know that this life is not a joke, and we don’t have to joke about everything (especially sensitive matters).

Today it is Etalian Blog, tomorrow it can be anyone else. It may not be this kind of mess, but then, anyone can find himself in any mess (whether guilty or not). So, before you celebrate one man’s mess, think twice.
Mind you, I’m 100% not in support of what he did. I am very angry with him, and he knows that.

Now, here is the gist:

A Port Harcourt based artist contracted a Port Harcourt based Promoter to run an online promotion of his song. ₦55,000.00 was paid for the job, but unfortunately, the artist didn’t get the services he was paid for. When he tried reaching out to the Promoter, he noticed that the guy wasn’t reachable. That prompted him to cry out publicly.

When I got to know about the whole drama, I reached out to both parties involved (the Artist, and the Promoter) and they both explained themselves to me. According to the Promoter, he used the money for something else (contrary to what he was paid for). He came out clean that he didn’t do the job he was paid for, and doesn’t have the money as he has used it all on something foolish. Well, he was asked to pay back the money, which he begged that he doesn’t have at the moment, and should be given some time to pay back.

I invited both the artist, and the Promoter to a meeting at Eden Kingdom Lounge and Restaurant on Monday, the 24th day of August 2020, so we could resolve the issue amicably. The Promoter was scared, but I motivated him to man up. I was at the venue of the meeting before 9:00am.
My plan was to beg the artist to allow me take up the responsibility of carrying out the services he paid the Promoter for. Some bloggers also volunteered to support (including some Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram influencers).

The Promoter, Mr. Chijioke Samuel Emenu, arrived some hours later with Mr. Nnadi God’spower Ikechukwu Manuagwu. While we were seated, he got a call from the artist requesting for directions to the venue, so he had to leave us to go bring him inside. Few minutes later I received a text message from the Promoter that they’ve picked him up, and he doesn’t know where they are taking him to. I tried calling him, but couldn’t reach him. I had to call the artist, Mr. Eze Destiny Okezzy, who confirmed that it wasn’t the Police, that he wanted to handle the guy his own way, and ensure that he gets his money back.

I was lost in thoughts, because if anything should happen, I’ll also be involved as I was the one that invited them out. I called the artist again and pleaded with him not to harm the promoter, that he should go easy on him, bor better still hand him over to the Police. Immediately I had to call Vdj Tflexx to help me call the artist and calm him down too.

As God may have it, they all came back to meet me at Eden Kingdom Lounge and Restaurant. I, and Nnadi took the artist aside and pleaded with him to let the guy go, that we’ll handle the promotion he paid for. But then, the artist wouldn’t want to comply with us – not because he was being wicked, but because of the many ugly experiences he had recorded with this very Promoter, and the not-too-good testimonies from other artists who had also transacted with the Promoter. He wanted to put a stop to it.

After much pleading, they left to go meet his family and know where he stays.

Few hours later, I got a call that the matter has been taken to Kala Police Station, and my presence was needed. I was with Otuonye Chidera BelieveAll then, so I had to plead with him to accompany me.
When we got to the Police station he (the Promoter) had already agreed to pay back the money on Wednesday (within 2 days).

Someone had to bail him out, and sign a surety on his behalf. The person is to be held responsible and arrested should in case he isn’t able to pay back or should in case he disappears. Hmmmm
Unfortunately, there was no family member of his around. What do we do? I volunteered myself (to bail him out, and also sign the surety). What? How could I be that foolish?

Well, I know… That was a risky and foolish thing to do, but I did it anyways, not because I have the money to pay should in case I am being arrested, but because…
Honestly, I don’t know why I did what I did though.

Today is Wednesday, the 26th day of August 2020. I called the Promoter on Tuesday evening to find out if he was able to raise any money, but it was negative. He was like; “Roy, nothing come out oh, I’ll just go to the police station tomorrow and submit myself. I no wan put you for trouble”

I asked him to calm down, and be hopeful. I then made some few calls to my friends who are familiar with the law, and how the police system works, to enquire if it was possible to go back to the Police station and renegotiate with them for an extention of the payment date, and they said it was possible. I then messaged the promoter about my findings.

Fast forward to this morning, we (Myself, Nnadi, and the Promoter) met at the Police station. He had already raised ₦25,000, and was able to pay ₦15,000 for his bail. We were asked to go back and hustle for the artist’s ₦55,000, as detaining the Promoter won’t bring out the money, seeing that he is the one to hustle for the money.

Currently, he has ₦10,000 with him, leaving a balance of ₦45,000

Nobody ran away!

As to why I’m helping out:
I still don’t know…
All I know is that I am human, and this could happen to anyone.

NOTE:
▪️The Promoter is sincerely sorry, and regrets his actions
▪️The artist isn’t a wicked person. From my experience with him, the guy is respectful, human and considerate.
