On Friday 12th January, 2019, the people of Etche were filled with excitement as they paid host to the Hon. Minister of Transportation and Former Gov. Of Rivers State Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi. The event which witnessed a huge turn out of cream de la cream of Etche people who have made waves in their various fields and are now change agents was held at the Community Primary school Okehi Etche.
Speaking at the event, the Minister who expressed satisfaction with the level of mobilization done applauded Etche APC for a job well done adding that, they have really embraced change as no dime from him was given to them to mobilize and they were able to gather this crowd present. He charged them to do more and he wish other LGAs will emulate from them.
Receiving some decampees from the PDP, the State Party Chairman assured them of equal opportunities, adding that in APC there is no marginalization and there is no late comer as everybody will be carried along. The State Party Chairman took time to give the narrative of the exit of the former party chairman in the LGA chief Dede Musa and that Musa was on his way to be suspended by the party as a vote of no confidence was already passed on him before his resignation. Adding that his exit will not in any way affect the fortune of the party in the LGA come 2019.
During the event, The Etche APC leaders took to eulogies the Hon. Minister for Transportation for his good works in Etche adding that his imprint in Etche in terms of infrastructural development can not be erased as during his tenure as Governor, Etche was placed on the speed land for development noting that there is no community in Etche that do not have their internal roads constructed, a health centre or a school.
Specifically, Chief Ambrose Nwuzi the Managing Director, MGS and one of the Etche caucus member told the Minister to get them a candidate ” I know when you friend left to PDP, you felt very bad thinking that nobody is remaining in Etche APC but you can see for yourself and we are going to prove it come 2019 only give us a credible candidate”
Some of the Etche APC stalwarts present at the event are Hon. Reginald Ukwoma, Hon. Chidi Nweke, Hon.Ogbonna Nwuke, Chief Ambrose Nwuzi, Hon. Okay Amadi, Hon. Kingdom Nwankwoala Acting party chairman, Hon George Nwanjoku party secretary and others.
